Large western style knives are known as Bowie knives. This isn’t because of a blade shape or place of origin, it’s because of history’s most famous knife fighter, James Bowie. He carried a large fighting knife everywhere from the western plains all the way to the Alamo where he eventually died in a war against Mexico. He used a large blade is his legendary Sandbar fight and for a while carried what’s often known simply as the “Musso Bowie”, named after it’s assumed creator. The dbad Big Jim Bowie pays homage to that knife.
What’s so special about the blade?
Starting with a quarter inch thick of blackened 5160 steel, the hand hammered blade stretches an imposing 14 inches. It has a long clip point with an unsharpened swedge creating a strong fighting tip. At 2.75” wide, the blade may be the widest in your collection. Across it’s curved spine, you will see an equally curved polished steel spine guard, welded on for ultimate strength and protection.
Why use micarta?
The in house, hand made micarta replaces the traditional wood grip. It allows for an amazing non slip grip in nearly any weather conditions.
What is the grip?
A 6” full tang grip means you will have plenty of room for any hand size and a sense of security in it’s strength that most versions don’t offer. The scale choice brings this knife into a modern era it deserves to to be wielded in. The polished S-guard will lock your hand tightly at the front of the grip offering protection from the sharp edge of your knife, or your enemies.
What's the sheath?
Big Jim comes with a Sheath made from a high-quality Kydex sheet. It is a lightweight, waterproof, and durable material.
Must Know: Kydex is a hard material and may cause minor blade scratches upon contact. While we do our best to minimize this, some scratches are unavoidable. We want all our buyers to be aware of this.

Exceeded expectations.
Knife exceeded my expectations in just about every way. I’ve been buying knives from Nepal since the early days of Himalayan imports, the fit & finish, attention to detail & overall quality of build of this Bowie is better than anything I’ve received thus far.

Satisfied
enormous knife. Steel seems a bit softer than expected. Thought the blade was going to be thicker personally but then it would be less weildable but still a great knife

Fantastico
È così bello che me lo porterei a letto come facevo con le macchinine quando ero bambino,....ma non è il caso , è troppo affilato, appuntito e soprattutto mentre dormo mi giro spesso.

AMAZING
I just received my bowie today and it arrived early. It is incredible! The craftsmanship is superb. Sharp as a razor, and stout. It's a full quarter inch thick at the spine. It's a large hunk of steel, but lively in the hands. I opted for the leather sheath. It is not just leather, but wood core covered by leather. Just like the khukuri's. The whole package is well worth the price.
