the 2020'x next-generation Crocodile Dundee Bowie for you
When the beast is stalking you, stalk it back !!
The 1980’s brought us a hero like we’ve never seen. A skinny, Australian with a great sense of humor and embellished stories. Good old Mick, or better known as, Crocodile Dundee. Mick carried a knife that at the time was something unseen and un replicated. The world fell in love with the Aussies big Bowie. While the movie knife itself was never reproduced and sold, there have been thousands of copies. The problem is that the knives short comings are always the same. Large brass ends, a thin tang and a rat tail at the end. Well I thought it was time to breathe new life into the worlds most popular knife and do so by breathing fire!
now that's a knife...
What’s so special about the blade?
A quarter inch thick slab of hand forged 5160 steel was needed for the power to be gator worthy. The spine gently lifts away from the tang and flawlessly finds itself melting into a long unsharpened swedge. Separating the spine from the sweeping very sharp edge is a massive fuller for both weight control and blood grooving. The integrated guards remove the need for big clunky add ons while maintaining the aesthetics of Dundees original piece. The main difference of course is the much added strength from it’s full tang construction. The 11” long blade and 16” overall size you will find to be movie accurate, but the thickness and width definitely over shadow the original.
Why use micarta scales?
Simple. Grip. The massive knife needs to be held onto and I can think of no better way to maintain a consistent grip, then using a consistent material. The stacked leather grips are a product of yesteryear. It’s time to bring this gator into the future.
